For millennia, its steady seasons have allowed life to thrive. But global warming is upsetting this balance, and scientists are discovering that what happens here, affects us all.
Filming for IMAX and Giant Screen
Arctic: Our Frozen Planet draws on the original stories filmed for Frozen Planet II. However, it is not simply an adaptation of the same material.
Filming for the giant screen presents a unique challenge. The screen fills the viewer’s entire field of vision and as a result you can’t compose for the frame as you would for regular screen sizes. This meant that we had to film much of the same sequence twice: once composed for the television frame, and once again composed for IMAX cinemas.
